Benjamin was loaned to the Jews for the sake of King David, as a lamp to shine light on the character of the LORD in Jerusalem: the city where He has chosen for Himself to put His Name (1 Ki 11:32, 36).
Benjamites took the good news of Yeshua from the Jews at Jerusalem to the Lost Tribes of Israel in exile.
Galileans were mainly of Benjamin, so most of the Messiah’s followers including Paul, were of the Tribe of Benjamin (Rom 11:11). They remained with the House of the LORD so long as divine favor remained with them, but when that terminated after Yeshua’s day, Benjamin was delivered during the 70 AD Roman destruction and led under divine guidance across to Europe to their new home. The Normans were mostly from the tribe of Benjamin and were a natural branch in the nethermost part of the vineyard.
Benjamin’s promise from Jacob was that he would do this:
Genesis 49:27:
Benjamin shall tear as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
King David prophesied of future ‘little Benjamin’s division of the spoil and rulership:
Psalm 68:12:
Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
Psalm 68:27:
There is little Benjamin their ruler, the princes of Judah their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
The impending judgment on Israel, shows that Benjamin will represent the House of Judah and be chosen to lead Israel as the princes of Judah became dry. [Hosea 5:8,10]
Hosea 5:8: Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin
Hosea 5:10:
The princes of Judah became as they that removed the bounds: I will pour out upon them my fury as water.
At Israel’s final triumph, Benjamin will be the one to possess Gilead:
Obadiah 1:19: And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
